There have been two significant cliff falls at Birling Gap.
The first approximately 370m east of the steps at Birling Gap beach and the second approximately 890m east of the steps.

These falls at at the opposing ends of the original Neolithic Beaker site which dates from around 4,200BC.
The above photo from the Argus shows the nearer cliff fall with the further cliff fall nearer Belle Tout and the green area on the top of the cliff is the remains of the original Neolithic Beaker site.
